About the Foundation

Dear Friends of the Game,

Those of us who have an enduring love for the game of golf have an opportunity to make a significant impact in our own community. It is a privilege to genuinely pay it forward, as we create a platform through which we can introduce the game to today’s youth. To not only provide guidance and instruction, but more importantly to help instill a value system that only golf can provide. Our message below encapsulates that mission…… a mission that would welcome your support.

Brunswick CC has a rich history. In 1920 the club began as a nine-hole, sand green golf course on the eastern edge of the city. In the mid-thirties the club relocated to its current location with another nine -hole routing, and as fate would have it, Donald Ross brought his guiding hand to a second nine and renovated the initial nine. The result is a marvelous Ross gem. 

As the Georgia State Golf Association was formed, BCC was one of the fifteen founding member clubs. Today, it remains as one of the most sought-after venues for many GSGA Championships. 

With that rich tradition and history comes an incredible list of accomplishments by our members. Among the golf majors won are the PGA Championship, the USGA Senior Championship, the USGA Mid-Amateur, the US Amateur and British Amateur Championships. Plus multiple Ryder Cups and Walker Cups. 

Today we are honoring that history. The Golden Isles Golf Foundation has been formed to create educational grants for deserving young men and women who show good sportsmanship to their fellow players, who treat the game with dignity and respect, appreciate its rules and proper etiquette, and demonstrate a proficiency to compete at the game’s highest levels. 

Further, our Golden Isles Golf Academy….. GIGA….. will introduce the game to young and beginning golfers by creating a non-threatening teaching curriculum that drives awareness and learning opportunities in a welcoming and nurturing environment.  There is no better way to grow the game.

All the while keeping a mindful eye on the need to maintain and preserve the special Ross course and the attendant amenities that make the Club so special. 

The Golden Isles Golf Foundation is a voluntary 501(C)3 entity through which our members and supporters can make a tax- deductible contribution to benefit the mission of the Foundation. We are not unique, as other clubs in the country have chosen to embrace this instrument for similar purposes. 

Contributions and pledges can come from individuals, corporations, foundations and golf organizations. We accept memorial donations, stock from a brokerage account and stock certificates, and wills and life estates as those who love golf give back to the game through their generous gifts. 

The result is a perpetual funding mechanism that provides benefits on an ongoing basis Golf is a lifetime sport that gives us such joy……. let’s pass it on. 

Personally, I would be honored to have you join us with your support. I learned how to play golf at Brunswick CC, and am forever grateful to those members who were so welcoming and treated me with such respect and kindness. The club literally changed the trajectory of my life and my career. 

Our goal is to raise $2M. With your help and generosity the Golden Isles Golf Foundation can achieve this goal and impact our future.
